The Secretary of State, after consulting with the persons referred to in section 1(4) of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973(1), in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and (2) and 3(2) of that Act and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby orders as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Protection of Wrecks (Designation No. 1 Order 1986) (Amendment) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 18th March 1988.
2. The Protection of Wrecks (Designation No. 1) Order 1986(2) shall be amended by the substitution in article 2(2) of“100 metres” for“50 metres”.

This Order amends the Protection of Wrecks (Designation No. 1) Order 1986 by increasing the restricted area around the site of what is thought to be the wreck of a vessel of historical and archaeological importance off Bracklesham, near Selsey Bill, to an area within 100 (instead of 50) metres of the site.
