Order made by the Treasury, laid before the House of Commons under section 9(2) of the Finance Act 1982 for approval by resolution of that House within twenty-eight days beginning with the day on which the Order was made, subject to extension for periods of dissolution, prorogation or adjournment for more than four days.

The Treasury, in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 9(1)(c) of the Finance Act 1982(1), hereby make the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Alcoholic Liquor Duties Act 1979 (Repeal of Section 31) Order 1989 and shall come into force on 15th December 1989.

2.  Section 31 of the Alcoholic Liquor Duties Act 1979(2) (which imposes restrictions on the delivery of immature spirits for home use) is hereby repealed.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order repeals section 31 of the Alcoholic Liquor Duties Act 1979 (which imposes restrictions on the delivery of immature spirits for home use) with effect from 15th December 1989 when the substantive articles of Council Regulation (EEC) No.1576/89 (OJ No.L160, 12.6.89, p.1) laying down general rules on the definition, description and presentation of spirit drinks become applicable.
