Whereas it appears to the Secretary of State for Transport that the area defined in article 2 of this Order is used wholly or mainly for the storage or handling of cargo at Stansted Airport – London, being a designated airport ((1));
Now, therefore, the Secretary of State in exercise of his powers under section 27(6) of the Aviation Security Act 1982((2)) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:–
1. This Order may be cited as the Stansted Airport London (Cargo Area Designation)Order 1991 and shall come into force on 3rd January 1992.
2. In this Order–
“the deposited plan” means the plan marked “The Stansted Airport London (Cargo Area Designation) Order 1991”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport and deposited at the Department of Transport, Parliamentary Library, Room P3/001, 2 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3EB; and
“the said area” means the cargo storage and handling area at Stansted Airport – London, which is shown bounded by the inside edge of the red line on the deposited plan.
3. The said area is hereby designated for the purposes of section 27 of the Aviation Security Act 1982.

Section 27 of the Aviation Security Act 1982 gives constables specified powers of search and arrest for the prevention of theft at aerodromes which are designated under section 25 of the Act. Additional powers to stop, inspect and search are given to constables in respect of any area at such an aerodrome designated as a cargo area for the purposes of section 27. This Order designates the cargo area at Stansted Airport for these purposes.
The deposited plan showing that cargo area can be seen between 10.00 and 16.00 hours at the Department of Transport at the address given in article 2 of the Order as well as at the offices of BAA plc at Corporate Office, 130 Wilton Road, London SW1V 1LQ, where a certified duplicate is deposited.
For “designated airport” see section 25 of the Aviation Security Act 1982 and the Policing of Airports (Stansted) Order 1975 (S.I. 1975/168).
