The Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (Scotland) (No. 2) Order 1992

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 41(9) and 51(4) of the Gaming Act 1968(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (Scotland) (No. 2) Order 1992 and shall come into force on 1st December 1992.

(2) This Order extends to Scotland only.

2.—(1) The provisions of section 41 of the Gaming Act 1968 (gaming at entertainments not held for private gain) specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order (which relate to the maximum sums permitted in respect of the matters mentioned in column 2 of that Schedule) shall have effect as if, for the references to the sums specified in those provisions, there were substituted references to the sums specified in column 3 of that Schedule.

(2) Paragraph (1) above shall have effect only in relation to entertainments held on or after the date on which this Order comes into force.

3.  Article 3 of, and the Schedule to, the Gaming Act (Variation of Monetary Limits) (Scotland) Order 1988(2) shall be omitted.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order, which extends to Scotland only, increases the maximum monetary limits specified in section 41 of the Gaming Act 1968 for the prizes, stakes and other matters mentioned in the Schedule to the Order.
