The Secretary of State for Transport, being a Minister designated(1) for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2) in relation to measures relating to the licensing of air carriers established in the Community, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section hereby makes the following Regulations:

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Licensing of Air Carriers (Amendment) Regulations 1993 and shall come into force on 19th February 1993.

2.  In regulation 2(1) of the Licensing of Air Carriers Regulations 1992(3) for the words from “and” to the end there shall be substituted the following—

“the Council Regulation” means Council Regulation (EEC) No 2407/92 on licensing of air carriers(4); and

“United Kingdom national” has the same meaning as in section 105(1) of the Civil Aviation Act 1982(5).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Licensing of Air Carriers Regulations 1992 principally by adding a definition for the expression “United Kingdom national”.
