PART II

MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF A SEED LOT AND MINIMUM WEIGHT OF A SUBMITTED SAMPLE

The maximum weight of a seed lot and minimum weight of a submitted sample shall be as indicated below save that the maximum lot weights in paragraphs (a), (b), and (c) below may be exceeded by not more than 5%:—

(a)For the following kinds of seeds—

White lupinHungarian vetchField pea
Narrow-leaved lupin (Blue lupin)Common vetchField bean
Yellow lupinHairy vetch

(i)the maximum weight of a lot shall be 20 tonnes

(ii)the minimum weight of a submitted sample shall be 1,000 g except that for white lupin, narrow-leaved lupin (blue lupin), yellow lupin, field pea and field beanthe minimum weight shall be, for Breeder’s Seed, Pre-basic Seed and Basic Seed—3,000 g Certified Seed, Certified Seed 1st and 2nd Generations—2,000 g.

(b)For all other kinds of seeds the maximum weight of a lot shall be 10 tonnes and the minimum weight of a submitted sample shall be as stated:—

(c)The maximum weight of a seed lot of a mixture of seeds to which regulation 5(2) applies shall be 10 tonnes, except that, where more than 50% of the mixture consists of kinds of seeds for which the maximum seed lot weight prescribed in seeds regulations is 20 tonnes or more, the maximum weight of a mixture shall be 20 tonnes.
