[F1 Single persons who become couples: further provisionsE+W+S

14.(1) This regulation applies where two persons become a couple and—

(a)within the period of 12 weeks immediately before they do so only one of the two has a previous entitlement to a qualifying benefit and either—

(i)is within his bonus period; or

(ii)is serving his waiting period; and

(b)the other member makes a claim for a qualifying benefit, other than a contribution-based jobseeker’s allowance.

(2) The number of days the person mentioned in paragraph (1)(a) has served of the waiting period referred to in regulation 6 shall be deducted from the number of days of the waiting period the other member of the couple is required to serve.

(3) Any bonus which has accrued to the person mentioned in paragraph (1)(a) shall be treated as the bonus of the claimant and not that person.]
