The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 232 (3) of the Housing Act 1996(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Housing Act 1996 (Commencement No. 8) Order 1997.
2. Part II of the Housing Act 1996, so far as not already brought into force, except section 73, shall come into force on 3rd March 1997.

This Order brings into force on 3rd March 1997 Part II of the Housing Act 1996 so far as it is not already in force, other than section 73. Part II deals with the control of houses in multiple occupation, and the repeal of Part XII of the Housing Act 1985 which concerns common lodging houses.
