The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1999

Whereas in pursuance of section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has made the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 1999 set out in the Schedule to this Order:

Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken the said Regulations into consideration, are hereby pleased, in exercise of the power conferred on Them by section 25(1) of the said Act, to order as follows:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 1999, and shall come into force on 1st April 2000.

2.  The Regulations set out in the Schedule hereto are approved.

SCHEDULETHE VETERINARY SURGEONS AND VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 1999

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby makes the following Regulations.

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 1999.

2.  The Schedule (Table of Fees Payable) to the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1999 shall be replaced by the following therefor—

TABLE OF FEES PAYABLE

1.  Regulation 15 (Registration Fee)

£175 (Previously £170)

2.  Regulation 17 (Retention Fee)

(i)for a veterinary surgeon practising or gainfully employed in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, unless (iii) below applies

£155 (Previously £150)

(ii)for a veterinary surgeon practising or gainfully employed outside the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man, unless (iii) below applies

£75

(iii)for a veterinary surgeon or veterinary practitioner who declares in writing to the registrar that he or she has retired from practice or gainful employment by reason of ill-health, parenthood, family commitments or such other circumstances as may be acceptable to the Council or that he or she has reached the age of sixty years and has retired from practice and all gainful employment of a veterinary nature

(iv)for a person registered in the supplementary veterinary register under section 6 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1948

(v)for a person registered in the supplementary veterinary register under section 8 of the Act

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Regulations approved by this Order further amend the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 1999 by increasing, with effect from 1st April 2000, the fees payable for the registration and annual retention of names on the Registers of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The existing fees are being increased by an average of under 3 per cent.
