The Scottish Parliament (First Ordinary General Election and First Meeting) Order 1999

Coming into force in accordance with article 1

Whereas a draft of this Order has been laid before and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 2(1) of the Scotland Act 19981, and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following Order:

Citation and Commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Scottish Parliament (First Ordinary General Election and First Meeting) Order 1999 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

Date of Poll at First Ordinary General Election2

The day appointed as the day on which the poll of the first ordinary general election for membership of the Scottish Parliament shall be held is 6th May 1999.

First Meeting of the Parliament3

The day, time and place appointed for the meeting of the Scottish Parliament following the poll referred to in article 2 above are, respectively, 12th May 1999, 9.30am and the Church of Scotland Assembly Hall, The Mound, Edinburgh.

This Order appoints the day on which the poll at the first ordinary general election for membership of the Scottish Parliament shall be held and the day time and place for the meeting of the Parliament following that poll. The first election will take place on 6th May 1999 and the first meeting will take place on 12th May 1999 at 9.30am at the Church of Scotland Assembly Hall, The Mound, Edinburgh.
