Whereas the Secretary of State considers it expedient for this Order to be made without a draft having been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2(2) of the Northern Ireland Act 20001, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 2000 (Suspension of Devolved Government) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 11th August 2001.

The Northern Ireland Act 2000 (Restoration of Devolved Government) Order 20002 is hereby revoked.

This Order revokes the Northern Ireland Act 2000 (Restoration of Devolved Government) Order 2000, which restored devolved government in Northern Ireland on 30th May 2000. By virtue of section 4 of the 2000 Act the effect of the Order is to bring into force again section 1 of the Northern Ireland Act 2000, which suspends devolved government.
