The Employment Act 2002 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2003

The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 55(2) of the Employment Act 2002(1), hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Employment Act 2002 (Commencement No. 5) Order 2003.

(2) In this Order, any reference to a numbered section or Schedule is a reference to the section or Schedule bearing that number in the Employment Act 2002.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into force of —

(a)section 49; and

(b)paragraphs 9, 10, 15, and paragraph 8 so far as it relates to those paragraphs, 51 and 55 of Schedule 7, and section 53 so far as it relates to those paragraphs,

shall be 5th July 2003.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force further provisions of the Employment Act 2002 (c. 22).

The provisions set out in Article 2 are brought into force on 5th July 2003 to enable regulations to be made to require the partner of a person who is in receipt of certain benefits at a higher rate referable to that partner to attend a work-focused interview and to make related provision.
