The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by sections 24(7) and 41 of the Finance Act 2003(1), hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Finance Act 2003, Part 3, (Appointed Day) Order 2003.
2. The day appointed for the purposes of Part 3 of the Finance Act 2003 is 27 November 2003.

This order appoints the day the relevant provisions in the Finance Act 2003 enter into force. The relevant provisions provide for the introduction of civil penalties for contraventions of European Community and national customs laws.
