Citation and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the State Pension Credit Act 2002 (Commencement No.4) Order 2003.

(2) In this Order, references to sections and Schedules are, unless the context otherwise requires, to sections of, and Schedules to, the State Pension Credit Act 2002.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into force of—

(a)section 11 (in so far as it is not already in force) in relation to paragraphs 1 to 7, 10 and 12 of Schedule 1; and

(b)section 21 and Schedule 3 to the extent that they repeal the provisions specified in the Schedule to this Order,

is 7^th April 2003.

Explanatory Note

This Order appoints 7^th April 2003 as the day for the coming into force of section 11 of the State Pension Credit Act 2002 (in so far as it is not already in force) in relation to paragraphs 1 to 7, 10 and 12 of Schedule 1 to that Act (amendments to the Social Security Administration Act 1992 (c. 5) and to the Social Security Act 1998 (c. 14) (“the 1998 Act”) which make provision for claims for, and decisions relating to, state pension credit). It also appoints that day for the coming into force of section 21 of, and Schedule 3 to, that Act in so far as it relates to certain repeals which are consequential on the coming into force of the amendments to the 1998 Act.

This Order does not impose any costs on business.

Note as to Earlier Commencement Orders

The following provisions of the State Pension Credit Act 2002 have been brought into force by the State Pension Credit Act 2002 (Commencement No.1) Order 2002 (S.I.2002/1691 (C.51)), by the State Pension Credit Act 2002 (Commencement No.2) Order 2002 (S.I.2002/2248 (C.72)) and by the State Pension Credit Act 2002 (Commencement No.3) Order 2003 (S.I.2003/83 (C.4)). Only section 18 has been brought fully into force; the other provisions have been brought into force partially for the purpose only of exercising any power to make regulations or orders.
