The Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 2004

Whereas in pursuance of section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966(1) the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons have made the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2004:

And whereas by section 25(1) of that Act the Regulations shall not have effect unless approved by the Privy Council:

Now, therefore, Their Lordships, having taken the Regulations into consideration, are hereby pleased, in exercise of the power conferred by section 25(1) of the Act, to order as follows:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) (Amendment) Regulations Order of Council 2004 and shall come into force on 1st April 2005.

2.  The Regulations set out in the Schedule are approved.

Regulation 2

SCHEDULETHE VETERINARY SURGEONS AND VETERINARY PRACTITIONERS REGISTRATION (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2004

The Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in exercise of its powers under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966, hereby make the following Regulations.

1.  The Regulations may be cited as the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2004.

2.  The Schedule (Table of Fees Payable) to the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 2003(2) shall be replaced by the following—

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order approves the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Regulations 2004 (“the Regulations”), made by the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (“the RCVS”) under section 11 of the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 (c. 36). It comes into force on 1st April 2005.

The Regulations amend the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners Registration Regulations 2003 (the "Principal Regulations") by replacing the Schedule (Table of Fees Payable). The Principal Regulations are set out in the Schedule to the Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Practitioners (Registration) Regulations Order of Council 2003 (S.I. 2003/3342).

The Principal Regulations regulate the registration of veterinary surgeons and veterinary practitioners and the fees payable for annual registration and retention of names on the Register of the RCVS. The amendment made by the Regulations is to increase the fees payable for annual registration and retention of names on the registers of the RCVS by 6% from 1st April 2005.
