The Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No.19) (England) Order 2004

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 122 of the Care Standards Act 2000(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation, interpretation and application

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Care Standards Act 2000 (Commencement No.19) (England) Order 2004.

(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Care Standards Act 2000.

(3) This Order applies to England only.

Appointed Days

2.  1st March 2004 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Act, in so far as they relate to the General Social Care Council(2)—

(a)section 56 (the register) in so far as it is not already in force; and

(b)section 55(3)(g) (interpretation) in so far as it relates to that section.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the coming into force on 1st March 2004 of sections 56(1)(b), (2) and (4) and section 55(3)(g) of the Care Standards Act 2000, in so far as they relate to the General Social Care Council.

The provisions are commenced in England only.

Note as to Earlier Commencement Orders

The following provisions of the Care Standards Act 2000 have been brought into force—

(a)in relation to England (as well as Wales) by—

Certain provisions of the Act have been brought into force in relation to Wales only, by the following statutory instruments—

(1)

2000 c. 14. The powers are exercisable by the appropriate Minister, who is defiend in section 121(1), in relation to England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, as the Secretary of State.

(2)

The General Social Care Council was established by section 54(1)(a) of the Care Standards Act 2000.
