Citation, commencement, application and revocation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Education (Recognised Awards) (Richmond The American International University in London) Order 2006 and comes into force on 31st December 2006.

(2) This Order applies in relation to England(2).

(3) The Education (Recognised Awards) (Richmond College) (No. 2) Order 1996(3) is revoked.

Designation of awards

2.  Any award granted or to be granted before 31st December 2016 by Richmond The American International University in London, is designated as a recognised award for the purposes of section 214 of the Education Reform Act 1988.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates all awards granted by, or to be granted by, Richmond The American International University in London, before 31st December 2016 as recognised awards for the purposes of section 214 of the Education Reform Act 1988.

As recognised awards, awards granted by Richmond The American International University in London are not awards of the kind referred to in section 214(1) of the 1988 Act, which makes it an offence to grant, offer to grant or issue any invitations relating to certain unrecognised degrees or awards.

The Education (Recognised Awards) (Richmond College) (No.2) Order 1996, which is superseded by this Order, is revoked.

A Regulatory Impact Assessment has not been produced for this instrument as it has no impact on the costs of business or charities.

By virtue of the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order (S.I. 1999/672) and the Scotland Act 1998 (Consequential Modifications) (No 2) Order (S.I. 1999/1820) the powers conferred by sections 214(2)(c) and (3) of the Education Reform Act 1988 are exercisable by the Secretary of State only in relation to England.
