The Secretary of State for Education and Skills, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 18(10) of the Children Act 2004(1), makes the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Children Act 2004 (Director of Children’s Services) Appointed Day Order 2007.
2. The day appointed for the purposes of section 18 of the Children Act 2004 (Director of Children’s Services) is 1st January 2008.

This Order appoints the day for the purposes of section 18 of the Children Act 2004 (c. 31). Section 18(1) provides that with effect from the appointed day local authorities in England must appoint an officer (a Director of Children’s Services) for the purposes of the functions conferred on or exercisable by the authority which are set out in section 18(2) of the Children Act 2004. The appointed day is 1st January 2008.
