ROAD TRAFFIC
This Order extends to England and Wales only and brings into force on 16 March 2007 the following provisions of the Road Safety Act 2006—section 44 which amends Part 2 of the Vehicles (Crime) Act 2001 (c.3) to allow for enforcement action against number plate suppliers; andsection 52 which amends Part 2 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 (c.57) to allow licensing authorities in England and Wales outside London to suspend or revoke a hackney carriage or private hire vehicle driver’s licence with immediate effect where it is in the interests of public safety to do so.
