The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 48(6) and 53(4) of the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007(1), makes the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 (Commencement No.3) Order 2009.

Commencement of provisions

2.—(1) The provisions of the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 specified in paragraph (2) shall come into force on 8 March 2009.

(2) The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) are—

(a)section 48(3) to (5) (Private Security Industry); and

(b)section 49 (Amendments of the Private Security Industry Act 2001(2)).

3.—(1) The provisions of the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 specified in paragraph (2) shall come into force on 11 March 2009.

(2) The provisions referred to in paragraph (1) are —

(a)section 44 (Northern Ireland department with policing and justice functions); and

(b)Schedule 5 (Northern Ireland department with policing and justice functions).

This Order brings into force various provisions of the Justice and Security (Northern Ireland) Act 2007 set out in article 2 on the 8 March 2009 and further provisions of that Act set out in article 3 on the 11 March 2009.
