Coming into force
The Secretary of State for Transport makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 80(1) of the Road Traffic Act 19881.
Representative organisations have been consulted in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act.
Citation and commencement1
These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) (Amendment) Regulations 2010 and come into force on 23rd March 2010.
Amendment of Regulations2
The Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) Regulations 19792 are amended as follows.
Amendment to Schedule 2 (Approval marks required by ECE Regulations – List)3
In Schedule 2 after item 30A insert—
“30B | E11 012439 S | Pneumatic tyre for motor vehicles and their trailers. | The tyre | 117 | 16th October 1995 | 1, 2 and 20” |
Amendment to Schedule 3 (Approval marks required by ECE Regulations – Requirements and permitted variations)4
After paragraph 19, add—

In relation to the marking prescribed at item 30B, the suffix “S” shall be added to the number mentioned in paragraph 2 above to show that the tyre complies with the requirements on tyre rolling noise sound emissions in the ECE Regulation referred to in column (5) of Schedule 2.
Amendment to Schedule 4 (Approval marks required by Community Instruments List)5

In Schedule 4 is amended as follows.

In item 33—
a
In column 5(a), add at the end “as amended by Directive 2001/43/EC of 27 June 2001”; and
b
In column 5(b), at the end insert “and O.J. L211, 4.8.2001, p.25”.
Amendment to Schedule 5 (Approval marks required by Community Instruments Requirements and variations)6
At the end of paragraph 15 of Schedule 5, insert—
The suffix “-s” shall be added to the number to show that the tyre complies with the noise emission requirements in Annex V of the Community Instrument referred to in column (5) of Schedule 4.
