The Secretary of State makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 30(7) of the Public Bodies Act 2011(1).

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Public Bodies Act 2011 (Transitional Provision) Order 2012 and comes into force on 1st July 2012.

Annual reports and accounts of the regional development agencies

2.  The functions of a regional development agency (other than the London Development Agency) under sections 14 (accounts and records), 15 (audit) and 17 (annual report) of the Regional Development Agencies Act 1998(2) shall be discharged by the Secretary of State in respect of any accounting period commencing after 31st March 2012.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

Article 2 of this Order confers on the Secretary of State the accounting and reporting functions of the regional development agencies (other than the London Development Agency) under sections 14, 15 and 17 of the Regional Development Agencies Act 1998 in respect of any accounting period commencing after 31st March 2012. The regional development agencies covered by this Order ceased most of their operations on 30th March 2012 and the Secretary of State will take responsibility for producing their final statements of accounts and annual reports.

An impact assessment has not been produced for this Order as it has no impact on businesses or civil society organisations. The Order has a minimal impact on the public sector. The Explanatory Memorandum is published alongside the Order on www.legislation.gov.uk.

1998 c.45; sections 14, 15 and 17 have been prospectively repealed on a day to be appointed by the Public Bodies Act 2011, Schedule 6. There are amendments to sections 14, 15 and 17 which are not relevant to this Order.
