Coming into force
The Secretary of State is a Minister designated for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19721 in relation to measures relating to the safety of ships and the health and safety of persons on them2 and in relation to measures relating to maritime transport3.
The Secretary of State makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972 and sections 25 to 27, 32, 36, 47, 73(3), 77, 78 and 85 of the Merchant Shipping Act 19954.
In accordance with sections 86(4) and 306(4) of the Merchant Shipping Act 19955, the Secretary of State has consulted the persons and organisations referred to in those sections.
