Section 149 has been amended by section 61(3) of the Electoral Administration Act 2006; paragraph 24 of Schedule 6, and Schedule 7, to the Political Parties and Elections Act 2009; and section 33(3) of the Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Act 2014 (c. 4). Subsections (8) and (9) were inserted by paragraph 3 of Schedule 1 to the Northern Ireland (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006 and subsections (10) and (11) were inserted by S.I. 2008/1319.
