Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1(2) to (4)

The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 18 of Schedule 12 to the Local Government Act 19721, section 36(1), (2) and (2A) of the Representation of the People Act 19832 and section 9HB(d) of the Local Government Act 20003.

The Secretary of State has consulted with the Electoral Commission in accordance with section 7(1) and (2)(d) of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 20004.
