The Education (School Information) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2001

Coming into force

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 537(1) and (4) and 569(4) and (5) of the Education Act 19961 and now vested in the National Assembly for Wales2, the National Assembly for Wales, after consulting those persons with whom consultation appeared to it to be desirable, hereby makes the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and application1

These Regulations may be cited as the Education (School Information) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 1st September 2001.

These Regulations apply only in Wales.

Amendment of Regulations2

The Education (School Information) (Wales) Regulations 19993 are amended as follows.

After paragraph 14 of Schedule 3 to those Regulations insert—

14A

Particulars of any special arrangements for the admission of disabled pupils to the school and for enabling such pupils to have access to any part of the school premises, together with particulars of any steps which have been taken to prevent disabled pupils from being treated less favourably than pupils who are not disabled.

14B

Particulars of any policies adopted by the governing body of the school with respect to equal opportunities.

14C

A description in general terms of the arrangements made for the security of the pupils and staff at the school and the school premises.

14D

A summary of the provisions contained in the home-school agreement adopted by the governing body of the school under section 110(1) of the 1998 Act.

These Regulations amend the Education (School Information) (Wales) Regulations 1999 which provide for (amongst other things) the information which must be included in the school prospectus. Four additional items relating to arrangements for disabled pupils, equal opportunities' policies, school security and the home-school agreement adopted by the school are now to be included in the school prospectus - see Regulation 2.
