Coming into force

The Welsh Ministers in exercise of the powers conferred upon the National Assembly for Wales by sections 135 and 145(1) and (2) of the Education Act 20021 and now exercisable by them2 make the following Regulations:

Title, commencement and application1

The title of these Regulations is the Head Teachers' Qualifications and Registration (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 and they come into force on 1 September 2011.

These Regulations apply in relation to Wales.

Amendment of the Head Teachers' Qualifications and Registration (Wales) Regulations 20052

The Head Teachers' Qualifications and Registration (Wales) Regulations 20053 are amended as follows.

In regulation 3(2) for the words “completed such course of training” substitute “met such standards”.

These Regulations amend the Head Teachers' Qualifications and Registration (Wales) Regulations 2005 by altering the definition of “The National Professional Qualification for Headship in Wales” in regulation 3(2) of those regulations. The requirements of the “National Professional Qualification for Headship in Wales” will change from completion of a course of training approved by the Welsh Ministers to the fulfilment of certain standards approved by the Welsh Ministers.
