The Department for Social Development makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 60(1) of the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 2007(1).
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform (2007 Act) (Commencement No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007.
(2) In this Order “the Act” means the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 2007.
2.—(1) The day appointed for the coming into operation of—
(a)section 38(1) of the Act (social security information);
(b)sections 48 and 49 of the Act (disability living allowance: age conditions);
(c)section 54 of the Act (power to stop payment of allowances to care home residents) for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations;
(d)paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 7 to the Act (minor and consequential amendments relating to Part 4) and section 56 of the Act in so far as it relates to that paragraph; and
(e)in Schedule 8 to the Act the repeals of section 72(6) and words in section 73(5) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 1992(2) and section 58 of the Act in so far as it relates to those repeals,
is 8th October 2007.
(2) The day appointed for the coming into operation of section 54 of the Act, in so far as not already in operation, is 29th October 2007.

This Order provides for the coming into operation of the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 2007 as follows—
sections 38(1), 48 and 49 (provisions relating to social security information and age conditions for disability living allowance) and minor consequential amendments and repeals, on 8th October 2007; and
section 54 (provision relating to the power to stop payment of allowances to care home residents), for the purpose only of authorising the making of regulations, on 8th October 2007 and for all other purposes on 29th October 2007.

Section 52 of, and Schedule 6 to, the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 2007 were brought into operation on 19th July 2007, for the purpose only of authorising the making of an order, and on 10th August 2007 for all other purposes by the Welfare Reform (2007 Act) (Commencement No.1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2007 (S.R. 2007 No. 335 (C. 23)).
