The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 69(2) of the Administration of Justice Act 1985, hereby makes the following Order:—
1. This Order may be cited as the Administration of Justice Act 1985 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1986.
2. The following provisions of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 shall come into operation on 1st January 1987—
(a)section 1,
(b)section 2, so far as it relates to the investigation of any complaint made to the Law Society relating to the quality of any professional services provided by a solicitor,
(c)section 3.
3. Section 48 of the Administration of Justice Act 1985 shall come into operation on 12th January 1987.

This Order brings into force on 1st January 1987 the following provisions of the Administration of Justice Act 1985:
(a) section 1 (imposition by Council of Law Society of disciplinary sanctions for inadequate professional services);
(b) section 2 (in part; examination of solicitors' files in connection with complaints relating to the quality of professional services);
(c) section 3 (powers of lay observers and Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal in relation to inadequate professional services),
and on 12th January 1987 section 48 (power of High Court to authorise action to be taken in reliance on counsel's opinion).
