Regulation 2(5)(c) and (8)
1. The reference method of analysis to determine total suspended matter (filterable matter from the non precipitated sample) as expressed in mg/l shall be filtering through a 0.45 μM filter membrane, drying at 105°C and weighing.
2. Samples must be taken in such a way as to be representative of the discharge over a 24-hour period.
3. This determination must be conducted to a precision of 5± per cent and an accuracy of ±10 per cent.
4. In paragraph 3–
“precision” means the range within which 95 per cent of the results of measurements made on a single sample, using the same method, are located;
“accuracy” means the difference between the true value of the parameter examined and the average experimental value obtained.
