The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 302(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1995(1), and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 31st July 2000 for all purposes other than regulation 2(3) which shall come into force on 1st August 2000.
2.—(1) The Schedule to the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996(2) shall be amended as follows:
(2) In Part I, paragraph 2(1) for “£70” there shall be substituted “£72”.
(3) In Part I, paragraph 2(2)(a):
(i)for “£24.40” there shall be substituted “£24.60”; and
(ii)for “£27.60” there shall be substituted “£27.90”.
(4) In Part XII, in the Table, for the entries listed in the column headed “Other surveys, inspection and tests, per hour or part thereof” there shall be substituted the following entries:

These Regulations further amend the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Regulations 1996. They increase from £70 to £72 the main hourly charge for services performed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (the successor body to the Marine Safety Agency) for services under Part I of the Schedule to those Regulations; make increases in the hourly rates charged for services in relation to `Radio Rules' (i.e. the statutory instruments relating to radio installations and navigational equipment on merchant ships and fishing vessels); and make equivalent changes for certain charges for additional services, under Part XII as follows:
