PROTECTION OF WRECKS, ENGLAND

The Protection of Wrecks (Designation) (England) Order 2004

The Secretary of State, being satisfied that each of the sites identified in Schedule 1 to this Order, is, or may prove to be, the site of a vessel lying wrecked on or in the sea bed and that, on account of the historical, archaeological or artistic importance of the vessel, the site ought to be protected from unauthorised interference; after consulting with the persons referred to in section 1(4) of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973(1); and in exercise of the powers conferred upon her by section 1(1), (2) and (4) and section 3(2) of the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973, hereby makes the following Order:

1973 c. 33. The functions of the Secretary of State were transferred to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46) and, so far as exercisable in relation to Wales, transferred to the National Assembly for Wales by virtue of article 2 of, and Schedule 1 to, the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (No. 672).
